The South Dakota Office of Equip opened its doors on  July 1st, 2001, funded by a federal five year Small Business Administration grant.  This grant creates a private and public partnership to serve prospective, new and existing entrepreneurs, business professionals, and communities. The Equip office provides business consulting, education and training services, and mentoring programs for new and existing businesses and communities.  In addition, Equip focuses on statewide representation to promote economic development opportunities and small business ownership.

The mission and services provided by the South Dakota office of Equip provide assistance and/or training in finance, management, marketing, computers, procurement, and the Internet, as well as addressing specialized topics such as home-based businesses and community development trainings. Equip is an intermediary for the SBA’s Micro Loan and Loan Prequalification programs. Equip tailors its programs to the needs of its constituency; offering programs and counseling in both rural and remote areas.

Equip has designed several programs to meet the consulting and training needs across the state. Business consulting is offered at no charge in person, via the internet, or by telephone (toll free). Equip developes custom trainings to meet the specific needs of a community, a business, or an organization.
