University Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are institutionally funded scholarships. These scholarships are awarded by the University of Sioux Falls and are funded by revenue and gifts to the University. The University reserves the right to limit individual amounts of grants and scholarships.

Any institutionally-funded financial aid that USF offers you, upon initial enrollment, is aid USF is committed to offering you each year until you achieve your first baccalaureate degree, as long as you remain eligible to receive the aid. Institutional scholarships, such as the Merit scholarships, have a specific number of semesters of eligibility. In most cases, this is eight semesters or four years.

Lillibridge Entrepreneurial Scholarship $10,000

Description:

Offered to full-time undergraduate students. Preference will be given to students who come from entrepreneurial households, to students who own their own business, or to students who desire to be a business owner.

Application Process:

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must complete the USF application for admission and receive a letter of acceptance. Applicant must major in Entrepreneurial Studies in the Vucurevich School of Business at USF and remain a full-time student (12+ credit hours). Students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1, 2014 and do so on an annual basis.

Dakota Corps Scholarship Full Tuition and Fees Min 24 Min 1090 Min 2.8  
Description:

Offered to full-time undergraduate students who are seeking a high-need major as recognized by South Dakota. Recipients must be selected by the state Dakota Corps committee as a scholarship recipient.

Application Process:

A limited number of students graduating from a South Dakota high school with a minimum of 24 ACT and a 2.8 GPA will be awarded a Dakota Corps Scholarship  based on the number of students who qualify through the state.  Students must major in a high-need field and agree to work in South Dakota following graduation.

New students attending USF as full-time freshmen will be considered for ONE of the Merit Scholarships. Merit Scholarships are determined at the time of admission to USF. Unless otherwise noted, no additional application is required.

To be eligible, students must meet all USF requirements for full admission for the fall or spring semesters. Students receiving academic scholarships or the Lillibridge Business Scholarship are not eligible for additional University Scholarships, but they may apply for Performance Scholarships. Students receiving Dakota Corps Scholarships are not eligible for additional aid, including Performance Scholarships. Students receiving Achievement Scholarships or Recognition Scholarships may apply for ONE additional scholarship, being either a Performance Scholarship, except an athletic scholarship, or a University Scholarship.

USF Transitions Scholarship $24,000

Description:

Offered to full-time transfer students during the 2015-16 academic year seeking their first bachelor's degree based on academic achievement.

Application Process:

Average award criteria is a cumulative GPA from college coursework of 2.5

New transfer students attending USF as full-time undergrads who have completed 12 credit hours or more after high school will be considered for ONE of the above Merit Scholarships.

Accelerated Nursing students and transfer students interested in the Degree Completion Program are not eligible for a Merit Scholarship.

Students must complete an audition or evaluation with the USF Music Department.

 
Description:

Students who will be enrolled as full-time undergraduates may audition for a scholarship. Music lessons are required for scholarship recipients.

Theatre $500 - $4,000

Students must complete an evaluation by the USF Theatre Department regarding participation requirements.

 
Description:

Students who will be enrolled as full-time undergraduates, show theatrical ability and will be majoring in Communications Studies & Theatre.

Art $1,000 - $2,000

Students must complete an art portfolio and have an evaluation completed by the USF Art Department.

 
Description:

Students who will be enrolled as full-time undergraduates, show talent in the art field and complete an art class every semester.

Athletics Amounts Vary

Full-time undergraduate students who are admitted to USF as degree-seeking and meet NCAA Division II eligibility criteria may be approved by the Head Coach based on talent and participation.

 
Description:

Students who will be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students. This includes athletic scholarships offered in NCAA varsity sports as well as Cheerleading.

Students who are offered Performance Scholarships are eligible for ONE additional Merit Scholarship and are ineligible for additional University Scholarships. Students offered more than one fine arts scholarship may not receive more than $5,000 total in Performance Scholarships. Students receiving athletic scholarships are not eligble for Achievement, Recognition, or Transitions Scholarships.

Sullivan Youth Ministry Scholarship $20,000

Students entering USF as full-time undergraduates with a 2.75 GPA and a declared Theology/Youth Ministry major may apply for this scholarship.

 
Description:

Offered to full-time incoming students who major in Theology/Youth Ministry.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship $3,000 ($1,500 per semester)

Students must be admitted to USF as full-time degree-seeking students and must submit a copy of their Phi Theta Kappa membership card at the time of admissions application.

 
Description:

Offered to full-time transfer students who have completed their Associate's degree and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Southeast Technical Institute Scholarship $3,000 ($1,500 per semester)

Students must be admitted to USF as full-time undergraduate students who will be transferring in as a junior student following the completion of their Associate degree from STI.

Offered to students transferring to USF from Southeast Technical Institute with a completed Associate's degree.

Coo Tycoons Scholarship $4,000

 To be eligible for consideration, applicants must complete the USF application for admission and receive a letter of acceptance. Students must have a minimum 24 ACT or 1090 SAT composite score

Endowed Scholarships Vary

Scholarship requirements are set by donors through contracts with the University. Students submitting an application by March 1st and meet the donors requirements will be considered for an Endowed Scholarship.

Yellow Ribbon Military Scholarship $20,235 ($2,400 total from USF)

The Yellow Ribbon matching program is available to students who are certified 100% eligible, submit a certificate of eligibility and complete the campus application through the USF Registrar's Office. The Yellow Ribbon Scholarship and VA match for full-time students are applied during the spring semester pending payment from the Veteran's Administration. Limited spaces available and filled on a first-come first-qualified basis so early applications are encouraged.

 
Description:

USF is considered a military-friendly campus and is proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program benefiting Veteran students who are 100% eligible for Post 9-11/GI Bill benefits.

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship $5,000 over 4 years

Students must graduate from a South Dakota high school with a 24 or higher ACT and a 3.0 or higher GPA. Students must also complete a set of high school course requirements and must submit an application by September 1st for the fall or January 15th for spring. 

 
Description:

Offered to students from South Dakota who meet the minimum scholarship criteria and application deadline.  The scholarship amount is spread over the course of 4 years following high school graduation.
