Topnotch Faculty
You will thrive academically under the mentoring relationships nurtured by our faculty.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The Joseph E. Salsbury Science Center classrooms and laboratories will serve to enhance your studies at USF, as well as your career beyond its walls.
The USF Advantage
While completing your studies, you will learn the latest “in-demand” programming languages, create professional databases, understand computer hardware and architecture, and study the theory of operating systems.

The degree programs in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems do more than train you to be technicians. With a focus on connecting theory to practice, taught in the context of a Christian liberal arts university, you will be prepared to be a leader in the field of computer science.

The Computer Science (CS) major will prepare you to become a computer programmer, systems analyst and developer of application software. The Computer Information Systems (CIS) major includes technical and business training, which leads to careers in system analysis, system design, programming and system project management.

You can decide after your first few courses whether you wish to major in CS or CIS. If you choose CS, advanced programming techniques lead to efficient, professional algorithms. If you choose CIS, your study will include the interactions between the technical and business personnel of an organization and an introduction to accounting and business management.

With a degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, you will be well-prepared to pursue an advanced degree or a wide range of professions.

Research Opportunities

You will have an opportunity to engage in a range of undergraduate research projects during internships, independent study and summer projects.
