To be eligible for “cultural awareness” designation, a course must carry at least three credits and provide:

1. an academic encounter with another culture including at least three of:
1. historical background
2. literature and the arts
3. social customs
4. religious background and customs
5. contact with people from the culture being studied
2. a forum to help understand how one’s culture affects one’s perception of the world
3. possible ways for students to demonstrate familiarity with the culture studied including, but not limited to:
1. tests
2. presentations
3. papers
