USF Media Studies has recently moved to a state-of-the-art Media Center with four editing suites using Mac Pro towers; an open bench editing lab with five iMacs; new broadcast studios for KCFS-FM, the campus student radio station; and KCSD-FM, South Dakota Public Radio. The Media Center also includes a high definition video studio with dimmable LED lighting and a control room with a NewTek Tricaster 855 switcher that has live web streaming capability.

Students are now doing field video shooting with seven Panasonic HD camcorders and several DSLR Canons. 
The USF Media Studies program is home to about 35 majors who participate in five concentrations including Journalism, Multi-Media Production, Media Marketing, Media Management and a Graduate School Track.

For over 25 years the department has also produced a one half hour television program. In that time it has had different formats and has been called Sioux Falls Forum, Focus on Sioux Falls and USF SPORTSLINE. Currently the program is called USF College Week . The program is a 30 minutes news program, focusing on news and information about colleges and universities from around the region. It airs on Saturdays on a local Sioux Falls cable channel and also streams from the College Week website.


Media Studies graduates are currently working in various media related fields including journalism, advertising and marketing. a number of them also have gone onto graduate studies and law school. Sioux Falls is home to a number of USF media graduates. Some of the companies employing them over the years have included Dakota Video and Post, Nichols Media, Vision Video, Lawrence and Schiller, KSFY, KDLT and KELO among others.
