Many of our students receive music scholarships. Recipients are not required to major in music. To receive this scholarship, students must participate in an assigned ensemble. They are also required to take private lessons each semester to improve their musical abilities. Students who are interested in receiving a music scholarship perform a live audition on campus. Please make arrangements to participate in the Admissions Department’s new program called “First Fridays!” This program allows groups of prospective students to tour campus, visit classes, and see all the facilities during the “First Friday” of the month. After morning tours, students may perform a music scholarship audition with the music faculty in the afternoon. If a live audition is not feasible, prospective students may submit an audio or video recording for review by the Music Department faculty. Contact a music faculty member for specific recording advice.
Music scholarships are limited. Students not meeting the March 1 st deadline for an audition may still audition, but are not guaranteed a music scholarship their first semester at USF. However, students may participate in music and apply for a scholarship in a future semester.
Prospective students should complete and return the Music Department Questionnaire. Upon receipt of your questionnaire, we can begin to assist students in making the most of their musical talents at the University of Sioux Falls. We look forward to learning more about what interests you musically.
