Internships are valuable experiences because they expand and reinforce what
students learn in the classroom. They allow students to explore careers in
selected fields, to compare theories with practical experience and personal
observations, and to establish a network of friends and colleagues within an
employment/research field.
In recent years, USF students have served internships with the U.S. Attorney's
office in Sioux Falls, with legislators in Pierre, SD, with public service
agencies in Washington, D.C., and with a Member of Parliament in London,
England. Internships are also available with the Sioux Falls City Council,
historical museums, historical preservation projects, or other
historical/political projects. The History and Political Science faculty will
help students find internship opportunities that match their academic programs
and interests.
