Course Offerings

Sociology provides a perspective of our world like no other discipline.  Here, at USF, students will learn how to think critically about social problems and better understand the world around them.  Courses will be designed around trying to answer some of society's most pressing questions, such as:  Why does poverty exist?  What can be done about it?  Does everyone have the opportunity to succeed?  And what role should society play to ensure that everyone has a chance at a better life?

Sociology majors at USF will also be prepared to further their education in such advanced degrees as law, history, political science, and sociology.  Many sociology grads who choose not to get an advanced graduate degree have served prominent roles in the local, state, and national government.  The critical thinking and broad skills offered with a sociology major prepare individuals for a wide range of disciplines and jobs. Interested students should stop by 411 Jorden for more information.
