 America Reads

Job Title:  Tutor (Reading Coach)
Description:
  The USF America Reads’ Supervisor arranges placements for USF work study students at elementary schools within the Sioux Falls School District.  Upon placement, USF students will act as tutors to elementary age students.  They will assist the classroom teacher to develop and improve literacy skills with the students.  All training and guiding will be done with the classroom teacher on a one-to-one basis.

Tutors set up schedules with the classrooms teachers and report to them if they are sick or need to adjust their schedule.  They will work on average 6-7 hours per week during the school day. Usually between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  Tutors are expected to always wear their USF ID and go through the necessary background checks prior to starting in the classroom.  USF tutors are also responsible for completing and submitting their timesheet to their USF supervisor by 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd of each month.  Any work study status changes must be reported to their classroom teacher and USF supervisor.
