In particular, HE2RP has targeted two main audiences: highly motivated undergraduate students, and middle/secondary school faculty, whose goals/missions compliment those of HE2RP.

The principle goal of HE2RP is to expose participants to the excitement and challenges of studying the sciences in a way that piques their curiosity and thus encourages them to:

• pursue their interests in related fields; and,
• educate others about science research through unique non-contrived learning experiences.

Secondary goals of the program are to:

• involve participants in the direct, hands-on collection of research data using current technologies,
• include them in the collation and analysis of data samples; and,
• allow each participant to prepare oral and written presentations of observations, interpretations and conclusions regarding the data.
