Students at USF can earn as many as four credits in political
science by participating in Model UN or Model League conferences.
Each conference attempts to provide a working model of the United
Nations or the League of Arab States, including their Committees,
officers, rules and issues. To prepare for a conference, students
will first choose a country to represent. Besides learning as much
as they can about this country and its role in the world, they will
also learn how to function as members of UN/League Committees -- how
to write resolutions, how to address their colleagues, and how to
negotiate with other delegates. In addition, they will study the
issues that are typically addressed in UN/League Committees. The
ultimate goal for students is to depict as accurately as possible
the country they are representing -- its goals, policies, and
participation in world affairs.
