USF Model UN Experience

Students at USF can earn as many as four credits in political science by participating in Model UN or Model League conferences.  Each conference attempts to provide a working model of the United Nations or the League of Arab States, including their Committees, officers, rules and issues.  To prepare for a conference, students will first choose a country to represent.  Besides learning as much as they can about this country and its role in the world, they will also learn how to function as members of UN/League Committees -- how to write resolutions, how to address their colleagues, and how to negotiate with other delegates.  In addition, they will study the issues that are typically addressed in UN/League Committees.  The ultimate goal for students is to depict as accurately as possible the country they are representing -- its goals, policies, and participation in world affairs.
