E-Mail Rules And Policies
A mailbox is automatically created for all University of Sioux Falls Students, Faculty, and Staff when their network account is created.

You have a mailbox - you are expected to manage it.
The IT department will not forward your on campus box to an off campus box or vice versa
Students, faculty and staff are expected to check their email on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with communications related to the University. They have the responsibility to recognize that certain communications may be time-critical.

As a user, you will be held responsible for all activity which takes place in your account.

Specific prohibitions are:

Forgery of electronic mail messages

Reading, deleting, copying, or modifying the electronic mail of other users without their permission

Sending chain letters or unsolicited "for-profit" messages

Using computing resources for unapproved personal purposes

Sending obscene and/or other threatening electronic mail to another user; or messages that reasonably could have been foreseen to have the effect of harassing or offending. Examples of forbidden transmissions include sexually-explicit messages, cartoons, or jokes; unwelcome propositions or love letters; ethnic or racial slurs; or any other message that can be construed to be harassment or disparagement of others based on their sex, race, sexual orientation, age, national origin, religious beliefs, disability, marital status or other personal characteristics protected by law.

Users should exercise extreme caution in using email to communicate confidential or sensitive matters, and should not assume that email is private and confidential. It is especially important that users are careful to send messages only to the intended recipient(s). Particular care should be taken when using the "reply" command during email correspondence.
