The Jets and the Sharks are squaring off tonight at 7:30 pm in the Meredith Auditorium, and you don’t want to miss it! “West Side Story,” which opens tonight, is directed by—none other than—Kim Bartling; the amazing dancing and singing is thanks to Rebekah Merriman and Misti Simpson. Set in an upper west side neighborhood of New York City in the mid-sixties, it is the story of a Puerto Rican Shark (Maria) and a white Jet (Tony) who fall hopelessly in love with each other amidst the animosity between the other Jets and Sharks. It is the modern rendition of Romeo and Juliet that will make you laugh and bring tears to your eyes at the same time!
If you’ve been wondering why some of your friends have seemingly fallen off the face of campus, it’s because everyone in the play has put in an incredible amount of time and effort. (A lot of sleep and studying time has been sacrificed!) Nevertheless, everyone is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to bring you this production. With this being Kim Bartling’s last production at USF, it’s definitely worth your time. Not to mention it is also one of your last opportunities to see some of our finest performers on stage such as Anne Wentworth, Brandon Hanson, Colin Koth, David Boe and others. So don’t wait any longer, come on out to the theatre and enjoy a great show!
