TECHNOLOGY ARTICLES
Designed as an introductory computer
applications course for teachers, this class provides experience in
technology programs for K-12 classrooms. This course includes
hands-on experience with telecommunications, multimedia, hypermedia,
and K-12 software programs.
Within the model of the teacher as developing professional, this class will fulfill the requirements of specialty knowledge and professional knowledge in the area of integrating technology into school curriculums. The teacher as a cognitive mediator, communicator, researcher, manager, and evaluator will be considered in the content of this course.

technology is being used in education environments.
2. Students will become skilled users of Microsoft Word.
3. Students will become skilled users of Microsoft Excel.
4. Students will become skilled users of PowerPoint.
5. Students will become skilled users of HyperStudio.
6. Students will become skilled users of FrontPage 2000, a web
building program.
Communicator:
1. Students will create and upload a personal
web page on the Internet.
2. Students will present a PowerPoint presentation in class.
3. Students will present a HyperStudio presentation in
class.
Researcher:
1. Students will research educational sites on
the Internet.
2. Students will research educational technology topics in journals
and on the Internet.
Manager:
1. Students will manage and keep a personal homepage updated.
Evaluator:
1. Students will preview and evaluate K-12
curriculum software.
2. Students will preview and evaluate K-12 Internet student
sites.
3. Students will preview and evaluate K-12 Internet teacher
sites.
Cognitive Mediator:
Objective 1 will be assessed by classroom
discussion and journal critiques.
Objective 2-7 will be assessed by rubrics for completion of
projects.
Communicator:
Objective 1 will be assessed by a rubric for
completion of a web page.
Objective 2-3 will be assessed by the completion of a
presentation.
Researcher:
Objective 1 will be assessed by the completion
of a web page with teacher & student Internet sites.
Objective 2 will be assessed by journal critiques.
Manager:
Objective 1 will be assessed by online evaluations of each student's web page.
Evaluator:
Objective 1 will be assessed by software
evaluation forms.
Objective 2-3 will be assessed by Internet Scavenger Hunts and check
lists.
