His Life Today:
Dr. Sean Johnson serves full-time as a clinical faculty member at the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California (USC). He is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist, teaches in numerous capacities and is a mentor for residents. In 2008, he graduated from USC with a clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy and completed an orthopedic residency, also at USC. He worked briefly in private practice before returning to USC. Then, in 2014, Dr. Johnson taught at the Kenya Medical Training College Higher Diploma Program. He plans to return to Kenya in 2016.

Dr. Johnson says the USF community has been very important to him, especially early in his career. "Several faculty members were gracious enough to offer to write a letter of recommendation for my graduate school applications," he says. "In addition, I was able to maintain contact with various faculty members who were willing to offer me advice and support as I transitioned to graduate school."

Never Give Up
He says Coach Bob Young was like a father figure to him, and he treated all of his players as his sons. "He led our team with conviction and instilled in us what it means to be winners and to never quit," says Dr. Johnson. "His mentality was such that no one will ever out work us." Dr. Johnson says he also valued the faculty at USF, both for their knowledge and passion. "They are very passionate about what they teach!"
