Bryan Wermers, M.S.N.

Assistant Professor, Nursing

Bryan Wermers is a Sioux Falls native who graduated from South Dakota State University with a B.S.N. in 2000, from Seton Hall University with an M.S.N. as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2009, and is currently enrolled at the University of Missouri-Kansas City for his PhD. He is certified as a pediatric nurse and a pediatric nurse practitioner. He has worked as a nurse in general pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, travel nursing in Minnesota and New Mexico and pediatric transport. As a nurse practitioner, he has worked with the a Pediatric Hospitalist Department, a Pediatric Surgery Department, and with a child advocacy center.

He is currently an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Sioux Falls where he teaches a variety of courses including Pediatrics, Medical/Surgical Nursing, Management, Leadership and Professional Issues, Cultural, Spiritual, and Ethical Nursing, and Nursing Capstone. His prior teaching experiences include being an informal preceptor, leading advanced life support classes, a clinical instructor for the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and a clinical instructor for the University of Sioux Falls Department of Nursing.

Currently he is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (the International Honor Society of Nursing) and the Nurse Practitioner Association of South Dakota and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

He loves spending time with his wife, Lisa, his daughters, Emerson and Alexa, and thier dogs Tenley and Poppy. In his free time he enjoys fishing, camping and listening to a variety of music.

Currently Wermers is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (the International Honor Society of Nursing), the University of Sioux Falls Honor Society of Nursing, the Nurse Practitioner Association of South Dakota and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

He is married to Lisa, has two daughters, Emerson and Alexa, and a vizsla named Tenley.
