Brennan Thompson

Assistant Professor of Social Work

I was raised in Sioux Falls, SD with my father, mother, and two siblings. I graduated from Washington High School before attending the University of Sioux Falls for Social Work. I graduated and then attained my Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. My area of focus was community health and urban development. After completing graduate school, I moved and worked in Brookings, SD as a Clinician at East Central Behavioral Healthcare. This is where I found my passion for therapy and started to notice the ways micro, mezzo, and macro social work intersect. I then moved to Sioux Falls, SD and worked at Southeastern Behavioral Health. I held many positions, with the final one being the Director of five programs aimed at court involved youth. I currently work as a therapist in private practice along with my role as the Director of Social Work and Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Sioux Falls. I am married with one son, Theodore. We also have two dogs, Zeke and Winnie.
