USF hosts South Dakota Supreme Court Oct. 1-3
October 1, 2018
The South Dakota Supreme Court is hosting its October 2018 Term of Court at the University of Sioux Falls at the Jeschke Fine Arts Center’s Meredith Auditorium on October 1, 2 and 3. Chief Justice David Gilbertson extends a special invitation to the residents of Sioux Falls and area communities to attend any of the Court's sessions.
“The University is honored to have the South Dakota Supreme Court on campus this week for its October Term of Court,” said USF President Brett Bradfield. “I want to extend a warm welcome to Chief Justice Gilbertson, Justice Steven L. Zinter, Justice Janine M. Kern, Justice Steven R. Jensen, Justice Mark E. Salter and their team of law clerks, as well as members of the Highway Patrol security detail, litigating lawyers and members of the public. This event affords USF students an exciting opportunity to broaden their knowledge base and witness oral arguments first-hand in a real-world setting.”
The Court will hear oral arguments in three cases each morning. The court will open at 9 a.m. and cases will commence on the hour. Booklets containing a schedule of the cases to be heard and a short synopsis of each case, as well as biographical information on the Justices and a short summary of appellate procedure, will be available for persons attending any of the Court's sessions.
