Esports at USF
Collegiate Esports is competitive, multiplayer video gaming focused on some of the world’s most popular titles. Students in Esports come from all backgrounds, areas of interest and skill levels to compete together in tournament-style gameplay, in-person and online.
Through team building, practice and league matches, players hone mechanical, strategic, problem-solving, leadership, collaborative and communicative skills both online and in the real world. Esports at the University of Sioux Falls fosters community and engagement, but also offers gamers and non-gamers alike a space to work together in the pursuit of goals one cannot achieve alone.
Beginning in fall 2026, USF is proud to offer Esports at a club level.
Competitive Teams
Recently recognized as the most played video game in the world—100 million play every month—League of Legends® is a multiplayer online battle arena game (MOBA). Players choose a role from an expanding cast of powerful champions and join forces in strategic, fast-paced gameplay to take control of the enemy’s end of the battlefield.
Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 third-person hero shooter featuring an all-star roster of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains, including Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and X-Men. Players learn to think strategically under pressure, be flexible and create team synergy in dynamic gameplay.
Overwatch 2 is a team-based, first-person hero shooter where diverse heroes battle in 5v5 objective-based combat across futuristic maps, featuring new heroes, updated gameplay with a single tank per team, and evolving seasonal content with new modes, heroes, and cosmetics, focusing on teamwork and unique abilities for strategic PvP action.
Rocket League is a high-powered hybrid of arcade-style soccer and vehicular mayhem with easy-to-understand controls and fluid, physics-driven competition.
Valorant is a highly competitive, first-person shooter with fast-paced combat and strategy-focused gameplay. Players build up their teamwork, communication, technical and leadership skills in 5v5 matches. Roles are found based on playstyle, and players take up arms as an initiator, duelist, sentinel or controller.

Scholarships Available
Scholarships are available for Esports team participants for up to $2,500 per year, renewable annually.
